Hitesh Saraogi to present at Diabetes & Endocrine Congress 2025 on hyperglycemia management in Type 1 diabetes during pregnancy in India
Abstract
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a
rapid, non-invasive imaging technique that provides high-resolution analysis of
retinal and choroidal microcirculation across different layers, without the
need for contrast agents or risk of leakage and accumulation. It also offers a
quantitative assessment of key parameters, such as the foveal avascular zone
(FAZ) and vascular density.
Recent studies have shown that OCT
angiography (OCTA) is capable of detecting early vascular changes in diabetic
patients, making it a promising tool for diabetic retinopathy screening.
This session will focus on the latest advancements
in OCTA, as well as the various qualitative and quantitative abnormalities
observed in diabetic patients prior to the onset of diabetic retinopathy (DR).
It will also address the challenges and potential pitfalls in interpreting this
technique at this stage of the disease.
