Will controlled monitoring of biochemical profile help in better prognosis of diabetic foot ulcer?

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus affects more than 400 million people worldwide and that number is growing rapidly. India is the country with largest number of diabetic patients in the world. Diabetic foot ulcer is one of the common causes of hospital admissions among diabetics in India. This study was aimed at creating a database on biochemical profile of diabetic foot ulcer patients and to see if they can be used to detect and prevent progressing complications and also to monitor treatment progress of Diabetic foot ulcer patients.
This session will provide a comprehensive overview of various factors contributing to and affecting the progress of diabetic foot ulcer. Interpretation of progressive biochemical alterations in these patients and how identification and correction of these alterations can be a solution for better disease prognosis, Therefore focusing on bridging the gap between laboratory research and clinical practice.

Biography

Dr. Drishya Nair has completed her M.D. in Clinical Biochemistry from Gujarat University, India at the age of 27. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Bangalore. She has published several research articles so far and has won various awards for the same such as IESRF National Young researcher of the year award, 2023.She is also trained in medical laboratory accreditation and management.
